- why NZ?
Every year after we got married in 1975, Christine and I made a pilgrimage to Kuantan to visit her family. We flew from Miri to Singapore, staying overnight in a hotel and the next morning at Arab Street we caught a bus which took us across the causeway to Johore, Mersing and Kuantan. The first time in 1975 we had to cross two rivers by ferry at Rompin and Mersing. The whole bus journey took over 7 hours.
